There are 44 empty hand kata and 28 Kobu (weapons) kata taught in the OKKU curriculum. The traditional kata of Kyokushin Karate are taught in our dojo's as well as some kata that are strongly influenced by ther styles of karate. Traditional kata and some very modern kata that are influenced by some of the off-shoots of kyokushin karate. We feel that these other kata from other styles are similar in theory to Kyokushin and enhance the flavor of our Kyokushin that is taught at Oyama Karate Juku.
In the columns below, the first 6 kata are videos that were posted by another Kyokushin Organization, hosted by Youtube. The videos offer really good explanations of the basic kata. Take the time to familiarize yourself with the kata that are viewed.
